Pakistan, Iran committed to enhancing trade cooperation and strengthening ties: PM Shahbaz Sharif

Tehran: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is committed to further expanding relations with Iran and promoting close cooperation between the two countries. Speaking to Iranian media during his recent visit to Iran, the Prime Minister said that Pakistan is grateful for the continued support of the Iranian leadership, and better coordination is being seen between the two countries.

The Prime Minister said that Iran had offered to mediate in the dispute between Pakistan and India in the past, which Pakistan accepted, but India did not show willingness to do so. He said that this effort by Iran is a reflection of the promotion of peace in the region.

He strongly condemned the Israeli attacks in Gaza and said that Pakistan stands in complete solidarity with Iran, and our position in support of the Palestinian people is clear and strong. The Prime Minister said that sustainable peace in South Asia and the Middle East is not possible without resolving the issues of Kashmir and Palestine.

The Prime Minister also said that a free trade agreement with Iran is being seriously considered, and bilateral trade is expected to increase significantly in the next few years. He welcomed the negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and expressed hope for a peaceful outcome.
