National-level meeting on flood situation, contacts between NDMA and provincial governments intensified

Islamabad: A high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad reviewed the flood situation across the country in detail. The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Atta Tarar, Senator Mosaddiq Malik and Chairman NDMA, as well as Chief Secretaries of all provinces and representatives of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

During the meeting, the Chairman NDMA gave a detailed briefing on the flow of water in dams and rivers and shed light on the expected weather conditions in the coming days. On this occasion, relief and rescue strategies were considered and instructions were issued regarding the transfer of affected people to safe places.

Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar said that the Prime Minister is aware of the situation moment by moment and has given clear instructions to take care of the affected families.  He said that there is continuous coordination between the NDMA and the provincial governments to deal with any emergency situation.
