Rawalpindi: Senior leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Khawaja Saad Rafique has stressed the importance of talks to resolve political differences and said that creating an environment for talks is the joint responsibility of all political forces; however, the offer of talks should not be conditional on such measures that affect the routine of life.
Addressing a function in Rawalpindi, he said that the solution to the political challenges facing the country lies in dialogue rather than confrontation. According to him, if different political parties are willing to talk to each other, then this process should be taken forward in a positive manner.
Khawaja Saad Rafique also expressed his views regarding the electoral process and said that some quarters give the impression that the results of the elections do not always meet public expectations, and according to him, this stance cannot be completely ignored. However, he did not comment further on the electoral matters.
Later, addressing the election campaign on the Muhajir seat in connection with the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections, the PML-N leader said that various proposals can be discussed at the constitutional and legal level regarding the seats in the Azad Kashmir Assembly; however, the concept of reducing the representation of Kashmiris living in Pakistan should not be acceptable.
He said that in the politics of Azad Kashmir, the PML-N is a party with strong public support, while other political parties also have public support. According to him, the electoral contest is part of the democratic process, and the final decision will be made by the vote of the voters.
Khawaja Saad Rafique stressed that despite differences, political forces should respect democratic traditions, constitutional processes and public decisions so that political stability and the democratic system can be further strengthened.
