Iran Blames Foreign Powers for Strait of Hormuz Tensions at UN Session

iran

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Aravani, has said that the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz and its impact on the global economy lies with the forces that launched aggressive actions against Iran.

Addressing a special session of the United Nations, he took the position that Iran has faced two illegal military attacks in the past year, which are a clear violation of the UN Charter and international law.

He said that the effects of these attacks are not limited to the cessation of military operations but also have long-term effects on regional security and global trade.

According to the Iranian representative, the Strait of Hormuz is a global trade highway, and the main responsibility for the deterioration of its situation lies with those parties who increased tensions in the region.

According to international observers, these statements by Iran may increase concerns about the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the region and the global energy supply chain.
