Tehran: Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi has warned that any new military activity or unnecessary military presence in the Strait of Hormuz could further escalate tensions in the region, and the responsibility for its consequences will fall on the countries taking such actions.

In his statement on the social media platform, Kazem Gharibabadi said that in the context of the current regional situation, any kind of adventurism or provocative action could prove detrimental to the peace and stability of the region. He stressed that the same elements that try to deepen the crisis will be responsible for the effects of such decisions.

The Iranian deputy foreign minister clarified that Iran attaches great importance to the security of the Strait of Hormuz, as it is one of the most important international shipping lanes in the world. He said that Iran, as a coastal state, is closely monitoring any unusual military movements in this waterway and expresses its concern in this regard.

He reiterated that the primary responsibility for the security and safe navigation of the Strait of Hormuz lies with the Gulf coastal states, while external military presence can create further complications in the region.

Kazem Gharibabadi also responded to the joint position of France and the United Kingdom, saying that the two countries are preparing to deploy a large multinational military mission in the name of protecting shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, such measures can affect the regional balance, and their possible consequences should be seriously assessed.

It should be remembered that the Strait of Hormuz is a very important shipping route for global oil and gas shipments, where any kind of tension can affect not only the region but also global energy markets and international trade. That is why the international community is constantly monitoring the situation in this waterway.
