High level of flood in Ravi and Chenab rivers, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz visits affected areas

Lahore: The situation of high and very high level of flood persists at various places of Ravi and Chenab rivers in Punjab, while the water level is continuously increasing. The flow of Ravi at Shahdara has exceeded 174,000 cusecs. Similarly, 128,000 cusecs has been recorded at Jasar and high level of flood has also been recorded at Baloki.

On the other hand, there is very high level of flood at Qadirabad in Chenab River, however, the water flow here is decreasing, which has reduced to 91,500 cusecs. The situation is also dangerous at Khanki, but a decreasing trend is being seen there too and the flow has reached 722,000 cusecs.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reviewed the flood situation through a boat at Shahdara and took a briefing on the arrangements.  Earlier, she had also conducted an aerial inspection along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Both the leaders were briefed in detail about the rescue operations and the overall situation of the affected areas.

Talking to the media, Maryam Nawaz said, “This is not the time for politics, but for taking decisions in the national interest because this is a question of people’s lives. I was born and brought up in Lahore, but this is the first time in my life that I have seen so much water in the Ravi.”
