Karachi: Amid rising inflationary pressures in Pakistan, the recent rise in flour prices has emerged as a new challenge for citizens, with it becoming almost impossible to obtain flour at official rates in the open market.

According to the latest prices available in the market, a 10-kg bag of flour is being sold for Rs1,050, while a 20-kg bag is being sold for Rs2,100, which are clearly higher than the officially fixed rates. This gap has further increased anxiety among consumers.

Sources connected to the supply chain say that the availability of flour was affected due to disruption in the official supply of wheat, which created a shortage in the market. Along with this, the continuous increase in demand is also playing a major role in driving up prices.

According to economic analysts, this situation is linked to the overall inflationary trend, where the prices of basic food items are continuously increasing. They say that if food prices are not controlled, their social impact could be even more profound.

Its effects are being clearly felt at the domestic level. Citizens say that daily expenses have already exceeded income, and now the situation has become more difficult with the increase in the price of essential items like flour.

Public circles have demanded that the government take immediate steps, improve supply and adopt an effective strategy to stabilise prices so that the common man can get relief.
