Tehran: After the burial and completion of the last religious rites of Iran’s martyred Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his son Mojtaba Khamenei has issued a written message saying that taking account of the blood of martyrs is the collective desire of the Iranian nation, and the responsible elements will be held accountable in accordance with the requirements of law and justice.

In his statement, Mojtaba Khamenei said that the memory of all the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in recent incidents, including his father, is a symbol of determination, independence and national unity for the Iranian people. He expressed his determination that these sacrifices will not be forgotten and every possible effort will continue to achieve justice.

He thanked the public for the participation of millions of people in the funeral prayers, condolence gatherings and last rites held in Iran and Iraq, saying that the large number of people from Tehran, Mashhad, Qom, Najaf, Karbala and other cities, as well as from distant regions, has been a practical expression of national unity and commitment to the Islamic Revolution.

Mojtaba Khamenei said that the extraordinary participation of the public made it clear that despite the difficult circumstances, Iranian society is united to protect its fundamental principles and national interests. According to him, this public solidarity has sent a strong message not only within the country but also in the region.

Expressing his determination to continue his father’s ideals and mission, he said that the challenges facing Iran cannot weaken its national resolve. He said that the country will continue its efforts to protect its policies, sovereignty and national interests.

In the statement, Mojtaba Khamenei said that the relevant institutions have identified the elements responsible for the incident, and legal action will be taken to fulfil the demands of justice. He said that those responsible should not hope to escape the consequences of their actions.

He added that remembering the sacrifices of the martyrs is not just an emotional matter but also a national responsibility, under which the country’s institutions and the people will play their role equally. According to him, efforts will continue until the demands of justice are met.

According to political observers, this statement has come at a time when a wide debate is underway in Iran on internal unity, national security and future strategy after the martyrdom of the top leadership. Analysts say that recent public gatherings have given the Iranian leadership the impression that different segments of the country are expressing solidarity with the state stance; however, the overall situation in the region remains sensitive.

It should be noted that the funeral prayers of the martyred Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were offered in Mashhad, while condolence gatherings and prayer ceremonies were also held in various cities of Iran and Iraq, which were attended by a large number of people, religious figures and representatives of various circles.
