Iranian Military Official Threatens to Destroy US Ships in the Gulf

TEHRAN: A senior military adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader has issued a sharp warning to the United States, claiming that Iranian missiles could easily sink American warships in the Strait of Hormuz. Mohsen Rezaei, a former commander of the Revolutionary Guards, spoke on state television, reacting to President Trump’s statements about “policing” the vital shipping route.

“These ships of yours will be sunk by our first missiles,” Rezaei said, wearing his military uniform. He argued that the US military is in great danger because its ships are within range of Iran’s coastal defences. The Strait of Hormuz is a narrow waterway where much of the world’s oil passes, making it a high-stakes area for both global energy prices and military security.

Rezaei, known for his hardline views, also made provocative comments about a potential ground war, suggesting that Iran would capture thousands of American soldiers and demand “a billion dollars” for each one. He also stated that he personally opposes extending any ceasefire. These aggressive comments come at a delicate time, as Pakistan is currently working to mediate between Washington and Tehran to prevent a broader conflict in the region.
