PSX Ends Higher as KSE-100 Gains 404 Points

Karachi – The Pakistan Stock Exchange closed higher on Tuesday as the benchmark KSE-100 Index gained 404.02 points.

The index closed at 177,370.71, up 0.23% from the previous session.

The KSE-100 opened at 177,451.26. It reached a high of 177,775.71 and a low of 176,577.14 during the session.

Trading volume of index constituents stood at 271.87 million shares.

Banking and fertilizer stocks provided the main support to the market. UBL was the leading positive contributor. It added 374.88 points to the KSE-100.

MEBL contributed 127.98 points, while FFC added 81.55 points. HBL and LUCK also supported the index with contributions of 41.96 points and 41.39 points respectively.

The market also faced pressure from major stocks. OGDC was the largest negative contributor. It reduced the KSE-100 by 83.60 points.

ENGROH lowered the index by 64.59 points. SYS, SRVI and PPL also remained among the major negative contributors.

The KMI-30 Index also closed higher. It gained 64.11 points, or 0.03%, to settle at 251,579.93.

The KMI-30 opened at 252,116.12 and moved between 252,449.82 and 250,433.49 during the session. Index constituent volume stood at 132.42 million shares.

MEBL was the biggest positive contributor to the KMI-30. It added 365.11 points. FFC, LUCK, FCCL and PRL also supported the index.

OGDC remained the largest drag on the KMI-30. It reduced the index by 238.50 points. ENGROH, PPL, SYS and MARI also weighed on the index.

Overall, the session showed a modest improvement in the market. Strong contributions from banking and fertilizer stocks helped both major indexes close higher. However, weakness in several heavyweight stocks limited the overall gain.
