Islamabad: The government has announced a new change in the prices of petroleum products. Under the latest decision, the price of petrol has been reduced, while the rate of high speed diesel has been slightly increased. The Petroleum Division of the Ministry of Energy has issued a notification regarding the new prices on September 18.
The government has reduced the price of petrol by Rs 1.65 per liter. After this reduction, the new price of petrol has been fixed at Rs 389.14 per liter.
In contrast, the price of high-speed diesel has been increased by 88 paise per litre. After the increase, the new price of diesel has become Rs 424.4 per litre.
The new prices will be applicable from September 21. Thus, motorcycle and car users will get the benefit of a slight reduction in the price of petrol, while diesel-using sectors will have a slight additional cost.
Even a small change in petrol and diesel prices can impact the monthly budget of citizens. In particular, changes in diesel prices are linked to transport and freight costs. However, the current decision has limited the increase in diesel prices to 88 paise per litre.
According to the latest rates issued by the government, petrol will be available at Rs 389.14 and high-speed diesel at Rs 424.04 per litre from September 21.
