MINSK: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan needs high-quality machinery and modern technology to lead the country on new paths of development. He was speaking to the media on a visit to a leading factory producing heavy machinery and vehicles near the Belarusian capital, Minsk.

The Prime Minister was informed that the factory has been manufacturing mining equipment since 1948, vehicle parts since 1951, and trucks weighing 25 tonnes since 1958. The factory is also producing electric and hybrid trucks according to modern requirements, some of which have also been supplied to Pakistan. The prime minister appreciated the industrial potential of Belarus and said that Pakistan was keen to benefit from Belarusian technology and expertise.

On this occasion, Shahbaz Sharif invited Belarusian Prime Minister Alexander Turchin to visit Pakistan, to which he expressed his happiness, saying that he was grateful for the invitation and it would be a pleasure for him to visit Pakistan.
