Who is the new Supreme Leader of Iran? News of consensus on the name of Mojtaba Khamenei: why the delay in the official announcement?

Tehran: A major breakthrough has been made in the leadership change in Iran. According to British and Arab media reports, the majority of Iran’s influential ‘Assembly of Experts’ has agreed to elect Mojtaba Khamenei as the new Supreme Leader.

Sources say that although there is a difference of opinion among a few members, this difference is purely sincere and technical in nature rather than a political agenda. According to Arab media, the official announcement of the new Supreme Leader’s name is currently being postponed due to security concerns. The Assembly is currently discussing whether to complete the traditional procedure of directly meeting the new leader.

On the other hand, Assembly of Experts member Mir Baqeri confirmed that there are some minor obstacles in the selection process that are being resolved. While Ahmad Alam al-Huda claims that the voting process has been completed and the final announcement of the name will be made at the appropriate time. However, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, adopting a cautious approach in an interview, said that for now all these things are rumors and the final decision will come out only after the Assembly of Experts meeting.
