US and Iran move closer to diplomatic breakthrough after weeks of conflict

The increased diplomatic activity between Washington and Tehran has created new hope in the region, where US media have claimed that the US and Iran are close to a major understanding agreement on extending the ceasefire and resuming nuclear talks.

According to US media reports, the White House has confirmed the news of the 60-day ceasefire extension, while US officials say that Iran has expressed its willingness to hold talks on its nuclear program. Although Tehran has not officially confirmed it, US sources are calling the development a major diplomatic success after the recent crisis.

According to a report by a US news website, the proposed memorandum of understanding still needs final approval from US President Donald Trump. US negotiators have briefed the president on the details of the agreement, but Trump has decided to review it further rather than give immediate approval.

According to sources, the main purpose of the agreement is to bring the two countries back to the negotiating table and reduce rising tensions in the region. US officials say the details will be worked out in future talks, but the two sides have reached an agreement on a preliminary framework.

The report says the proposed 60-day deal will focus on ensuring the safety of international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. It would include ensuring unimpeded passage of commercial vessels, eliminating tolls and ensuring non-harassment of ships.

US officials have said Iran is also willing to remove all mines from the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the US lifting its naval blockade. Experts say the move could help stabilize global oil markets as the Strait of Hormuz is a vital route for global energy supplies.

Possible points in the deal include an assurance that Iran will not acquire nuclear weapons. Sources say initial talks will focus on enriched uranium stocks, uranium enrichment levels and an international monitoring system.

According to US media, important issues such as easing sanctions on Iran and restoring frozen assets will also be part of the upcoming negotiations. US officials say that Tehran is being given an opportunity to remove its economy from global pressure.

On the other hand, US officials have made it clear that no agreement will include secret clauses or side deals. According to them, all issues will be settled under a transparent diplomatic process so that confidence-building can be strengthened in the future.

Political observers say that if this agreement takes shape, it could prove to be a significant diplomatic turning point after the recent tensions in the Middle East. However, the final progress will depend on the political leadership of both countries and the upcoming negotiations.
