PTI raises questions about transparency and public confidence in Azad Kashmir elections

PTI

Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in a statement on the Azad Jammu and Kashmir elections, has voiced its concerns with the electoral process and pointed out that there was a sharp decline in public trust in the process, and voter turnout was low at some polling stations.

The party has raised queries over the free, fair and transparent elections in the prevailing political scenario. The public has rejected some of the parties that participated in the electoral process in the past, thus affecting public trust in electoral contests, PTI stated on its cross-examination.

PTI contended that the PML-N and the Pakistan Peoples Party are busy building political reconciliation and power sharing while the Kashmiri people are focused on their fundamental rights, issues, demands and effective representation.

If the strengthening of the democratic process is desired, it is essential to provide equal opportunities for all political parties without discrimination for the voters to freely express their opinions, the statement said.
