Islamabad: The Meteorological Department has predicted that the weather will remain extremely hot and dry in most parts of Pakistan during the next 24 to 48 hours, however, there is also a possibility of light rain and strong winds in a few areas in the evening and night, which may bring minor changes in the weather.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain extremely hot and dry during the day in the federal capital Islamabad and surrounding areas. There may be partly cloudy weather with strong winds and light rain with thundershowers in some places in the evening and night.

The intense heat wave is also likely to continue in the southern and central districts of Punjab. The Meteorological Department says that the temperature will remain above normal throughout the day, while the weather in the Potohar, Murree, Galiat and their adjacent areas may be partly cloudy in the evening and light rain or strong winds may also occur at some places.

Meanwhile, the weather is expected to be extremely hot and dry in most parts of Sindh, especially Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad and Tharparkar. Citizens have been instructed to take precautionary measures to avoid extreme heat and avoid going out unnecessarily.

The heat is also likely to persist in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, especially in Peshawar, DI Khan, Charsadda, Mardan and Bannu. However, the weather in the upper areas like Chitral, Dir, Karak, Kohat and Waziristan may be partly cloudy in the evening and light rain with thunder is also possible at some places.

According to the Meteorological Department, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir will also remain hot during the day, however, the weather conditions may change in the evening and night. Strong winds and light rain are expected in these areas as well.

The Meteorological Department has appealed to all citizens to be cautious in view of the current heat wave. Citizens have been instructed to avoid staying in the sun for too long, consume more water, wear light and light-colored clothes and take all necessary measures to avoid the heat.
