Punjab government fixes flour and Roti prices

Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said on the social networking website X (formerly Twitter) that the Punjab government has issued a notification of new prices of flour and roti.

According to the announcement, the price of a 10-kilogram bag of flour has been fixed at Rs 905 while the price of a 20-kilogram bag has been fixed at Rs 1,810. Along with this, the official price of bread has been fixed at Rs 14.

Uzma Bukhari says that the government will not tolerate any illegal increase in the prices of flour or bread under the guise of floods. She further said that after the notification, the prices will be strictly implemented and action will be taken against violators.

According to economic experts, these government prices will definitely provide some relief to the common man, however, the real test is their implementation. It has been seen in the past that despite the issuance of official price lists, higher prices have been charged in the market.

Public circles say that if the government really succeeds in controlling prices, it will be a big relief, otherwise the notification will remain a mere paperwork.
