PSL 11: Double Header Thriller as Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi Secure Iconic Victories at Gaddafi Stadium

LAHORE: Cricket fans at the Gaddafi Stadium were treated to a day of pure adrenaline as the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 delivered two back-to-back thrillers. While Multan Sultans displayed clinical precision to defeat Islamabad United, Peshawar Zalmi stole the headlines by chasing down a massive 215-run target against Rawalpindi Pindiz.

Sultans Reign Over United

In the afternoon encounter, Multan Sultans’ captain Ashton Turner won the toss and invited Islamabad United to bat. United posted a competitive 171 runs in their 20 overs, led by Mark Chapman (40) and supported by Sameer Minhas (28). However, Multan’s Momin Qamar remained the standout performer, taking 3 crucial wickets to keep the scoring in check.

In response, Multan reached the target of 172 in the 19th over. Josh Philippe played a masterclass innings of 55 runs, while Ashton Turner anchored the finish with a steady 43 unbeaten, securing a 5-wicket win.

Zalmi’s Record-Breaking Chase

The excitement reached a fever pitch in the evening match. Rawalpindi Pindiz seemed to have the game in the bag after posting a mammoth 214 runs. Yasir Khan was the star with a brilliant 83, while captain Mohammad Rizwan added a solid 41.

Faced with a mountain to climb, Peshawar Zalmi’s chase began with intent. Babar Azam (39) and Mohammad Haris (47) provided a lightning-fast start. As the required rate soared, the middle-order trio of Abdul Samad, Michael Bracewell, and Aamir Jamal launched an aggressive counter-attack. In a heart-stopping last-over finish, Zalmi reached 215/5, completing one of the most memorable run-chases in PSL history.
