Pakistan Respects Sovereignty but Won’t Tolerate Hostile Use of Ties

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office has expressed deep concern over India’s rising defense budget and aggressive posture in the region, warning that such behavior undermines regional security. During a press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan refrained from commenting on the reported secret visit of the Afghan defense minister to India but emphasized that Pakistan expects friendly nations to avoid allowing their ties to be used against it.

The spokesperson said that while every state has the sovereign right to conduct its foreign policy, Pakistan has documented evidence of Indian involvement in promoting terrorism within its borders and even in other countries. He reaffirmed that Pakistan’s response to recent Indian aggression through Operation Bunyad-e-Marsous demonstrated the country’s readiness and resolve, including the downing of six enemy warplanes.

Shafqat Ali Khan also highlighted the critical importance of a responsible and peaceful resolution to the Kashmir dispute. “Pakistan will continue advocating for peace and will not shy away from discussing terrorism on global platforms,” he said.

He added that Pakistan appreciates the efforts of friendly countries that contributed to the recent ceasefire and remains fully alert to any future threats. “Our armed forces are prepared to respond with full force to any aggression. There will be no compromise on our sovereignty, dignity, or national security,” the Foreign Office spokesperson concluded.
