Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is committed to continuing close cooperation with Iran for the promotion of peace, development and prosperity in both countries and the entire region.
In his message on social media platform X following the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated his commitment to further expand the strong and historic relations between the two countries.
The prime minister said that the meeting with the Iranian president took place in a very pleasant and friendly atmosphere, in which both leaders agreed on the importance of dialogue and diplomacy for promoting peace and stability in the region and resolving all outstanding issues.
He said that Pakistan and Iran have also agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations and increase cooperation in all areas of mutual interest. According to the Prime Minister, there are possibilities to give a new dimension to relations in various fields, including economy, trade, energy, border cooperation and regional ties.
Shahbaz Sharif thanked the Iranian leadership and said that the trust that Iran has shown in Pakistan as a sincere friend, reliable neighbour and constructive country is a manifestation of the deep relations between the two countries.
According to political observers, at a time when the Middle East and the region are facing multiple challenges, high-level contacts between Pakistan and Iran can play an important role in promoting regional stability and diplomatic cooperation.
Experts say that close cooperation between the two countries will not only strengthen bilateral relations but also contribute to peace, economic development and safeguarding common interests in the region.
