JUI to launch protest campaign against Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government from June 29

Peshawar: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) has announced it will launch a protest campaign against the policies of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government with a rally in Battagram from June 29. In a meeting held in Peshawar, Maulana Fazlur Rehman held a detailed discussion with party leaders on the policies, scandals, and legislation of the current government.

Strong reservations were expressed in the meeting on Kohistan corruption, the solarization project, the wheat scandal, and the Mines and Minerals Bill. JUI rejected the child marriage bill, calling it contrary to Sharia. The BRT, Malam Jabba, and Billion Tree Tsunami projects were also declared infamous. The statement said that the provincial government is oblivious to public problems; hence, a full-scale public protest is being launched.
