Lahore: The mediation conducted by Speaker Malik Muhammad Ahmed Khan on the disqualification of 26 PTI members in the Punjab Assembly has been successful. Representatives of the opposition and the government attended the important meeting, in which it was agreed to resolve the issue through face-saving.
According to sources, at the beginning of the hearing, the Speaker heard the members suspended under Article 10A, who appeared collectively under the leadership of the opposition leader. The opposition requested the Speaker to resolve the issue in a democratic manner.
The government members objected that abusive language was used against their leadership, however, the opposition also admitted that the issue had escalated from both sides.
The Speaker reminded the participants that this session is an opportunity to strengthen democratic values, and everyone will have to live within the constitutional framework. At the end of the meeting, the Speaker said that the opposition had agreed on the principle of mutual respect and face-saving, which is a positive development.
