PM Shahbaz Sharif Orders Examining Reinstatement of Corrupt Lesco Officials

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has paid close attention to the restoration of twelve Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) officials who were earlier sacked on corruption allegations. In response, an official notice sent on Saturday indicates that a high-level investigating committee has been formed to handle the situation.

Former Secretary Power Shahid Khan, the current Secretary of Energy, plus officials from the Lesco Board and the Intelligence Bureau (IB), make up the committee. The committee’s establishment emphasizes how dedicated the government is to responsibility within its governmental institutions.

Moreover, the probe covers claimed anomalies around the selection of previous Chief Executive Chaudhry Muhammad Amin. On Friday, the committee called the board chairman, the present Lesco CEO, and other important executives to Islamabad for interrogation.

According to sources within the Energy Division, the committee is working on a shortened schedule and should provide its final report to the Prime Minister by January 10. The results of this investigation could inspire major changes and policies meant to stop such events in the future.

Especially in important industries like energy, this research shows the government’s attitude on guaranteeing openness and eradicating corruption within public organizations.
