Karachi – The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a three-day public holiday on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, confirming that all its offices will remain closed from May 26 to May 28, 2026.

According to an official statement issued by the central bank’s external communications department on Friday, the holidays will be observed across the country from Tuesday to Thursday.

The notification said that the closure is being observed in connection with the celebrations of Eid-ul-Adha, which is one of the most important religious festivals in Pakistan.

The State Bank of Pakistan will remain closed from May 26 to 28, 2026 (Tuesday to Thursday) due to public holidays on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha.

Commercial banks, microfinance banks and financial institutions operating under the supervision of the State Bank are also expected to follow the holiday schedule announced by the central bank. Normal banking activities are likely to resume on Friday, May 29.

The announcement comes as citizens across Pakistan continue their preparations for Eid-ul-Adha, including animal trading, travel arrangements, and shopping activities that usually intensify during the last week before the festival.

Banking experts say customers should complete urgent transactions before the holidays begin to avoid inconvenience, including interbank transfers, check clearances, and branch-related services.

Digital banking services such as mobile apps, ATMs, and internet banking are expected to function during the holidays, although some services may experience delays due to limited back-end processing.

Every year, the Eid holidays temporarily halt financial market activities, including the Pakistan Stock Exchange and government offices, while business and transport services activities increase due to festive demand.

The State Bank of Pakistan issues a holiday schedule before major religious and national events to help financial institutions and consumers plan accordingly.
