KMI-30 Index plunges by 3000 points

Karachi – Shariah-compliant stocks (KMI-30 Index) witnessed a sharp decline on Friday at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), where the index closed at 245,731.79 with a major decline of 3,035.83 points.

At the beginning of the day, the index opened at 246,231.41 and at one point reached a high of 247,952.14; however, selling pressure brought it down to a low of 244,939.39. The total trading volume was 184.52 million shares.

According to analysts, the index is in a loss of 1.13 per cent in the current calendar year (CYTD), while the overall growth rate for the fiscal year (FYTD) is 32.91 per cent. Engro (ENGROH) and Meezan Bank (MEBL) contributed 537.37 and 402.81 points, respectively, to today’s decline.
