The US and Iran have officially signed the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding”, which is being described as a significant step towards ending the ongoing tension between the two countries and improving diplomatic relations.

According to media reports, US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga signed the agreement electronically, after which the document came into force immediately. Pakistan played a mediating role in the negotiation process and played an important role in advancing relations between the two countries.

The main objective of the agreement is to resolve the ongoing dispute between the US and Iran through diplomatic means and promote peace and stability in the region. The document agrees to immediately end hostilities, restore maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz and hold comprehensive talks within the next 60 days.

Under the agreement, Iran has assured the international community that it will not develop nuclear weapons and will continue to cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on matters related to its nuclear program. On the other hand, the United States has expressed its willingness to ease some sanctions against Iran and discuss the possibilities of economic cooperation.

The agreement gives special importance to the restoration of the Strait of Hormuz. According to experts, this waterway is very important for global oil trade and its full restoration can stabilize global energy markets. The ongoing tension for the past several months had created a situation of uncertainty in global markets.

The Pakistani leadership welcomed this development and called it a positive step for world peace. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the high-level signing by both countries is proof that serious efforts are being made for a diplomatic solution to the dispute.

Analysts say that if all the provisions of the agreement are successfully implemented, it will have repercussions not only for the Middle East but also for the global economy, energy markets and international diplomacy. However, experts emphasize that future negotiations and confidence-building measures will be crucial for the success of this process.

Now, further technical and diplomatic talks are expected between the delegations of the two countries, in which detailed discussions will be held on important issues including sanctions, economic cooperation, regional security and the nuclear program. According to analysts, the agreement could prove to be a new beginning in US-Iranian relations after many years.
