Islamabad: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and adviser to the Prime Minister, Rana Sanaullah, described today’s discussion as very positive while speaking to reporters after the negotiating committee sitting.

Rana Sanaullah further revealed that due to these talks, PTI leader Ali Amin Gandapur stressed that problems should be solved peacefully. Upon responding to the questions that have been raised in the house today, Sanaullah has affirmed that, to his understanding, the founder of PTI had not been offered to be moved to Bani Gala.

He also elaborated that PTI’s delegation informed him about the issue of the release of detained workers. “We explained to them that it is the duty of the court to release him and not ours,” he said. Analysing the discussion, PTI’s Omar Ayub pointed out that the government should not hinder the release of workers, and this was taken on board by others.

When asked by a journalist if it was leading to the pardoning of some May 9 accused, Rana Sanaullah further said that the military has its own code of conduct in matters relating to punishment or mercy. He speculated that applications for others charged are still pending and can lead to clarity. He also denied assertions of external influences pressuring them by stating, “That is not true; there is no American pressure on us.”

On the procedural aspect, according to Sanaullah, once PTI puts forward its written demands, then the government will give a written reply to it. He also accused PTI representatives of leveraging harsh public rhetoric and explained their behavior by the necessity to satisfy the lower tribe of Twitter.

The meeting was symbolic of this evolution in the existing relationship between the government and PTI, offering an optimistic outlook on the developing conflict.
