Pakistan has strengthened its energy reserves, including crude oil, diesel, jet fuel, and LPG, to safeguard against possible global supply disruptions and regional instability.

Islamabad: Petroleum Ministry officials have said that the government has taken important steps to deal with potential global crises in the energy sector, and large reserves of crude oil, diesel and other fuels have been secured for June.

According to officials, arrangements for 446 metric tonnes of crude oil and 201 metric tonnes of diesel have been completed so that the country’s energy needs can be met in any unforeseen situation. In addition, the local production of 98 metric tonnes of petrol has also been estimated, which will help meet the domestic demand.

The ministry said that this decision has been taken keeping in mind the potential disruptions in global energy supply and the geographical situation of the region. Especially due to the increasing tension in the Middle East, the government has given top priority to energy security.

Officials further said that 18 metric tonnes of jet fuel have also been reserved so that air operations are not affected. Similarly, 12 days of JP-8 fuel reserves have also been kept exclusively for defence and aviation needs.

The government says that these measures are not only aimed at managing the current situation but also at making the energy sector more stable in the future. In case of any global crisis or supply chain disruption, Pakistan will have safe reserves for immediate use.

In addition, 18 metric tonnes of LPG reserves have also been reserved, which will play an important role for domestic and industrial users. These reserves will help stabilise the market, especially during winter and energy demand surges.

Officials said the government are keeping all relevant agencies on alert and the energy supply chain is being continuously monitored to ensure there is no disruption at any level.
