Milk and Yogurt Prices Increase in Lahore as Consumers Face Rising Costs

Lahore: The price of milk and yogurt just went up again in Lahore, making life a bit harder for families already stretched by rising costs. Right now, milk sells for Rs220 a litre—up from Rs200—while yogurt jumped from Rs240 to Rs260 per kilogram in many neighborhoods. For something as basic as milk or dahi, these hikes hit every household, no matter their income.

People in the city aren’t shy about their frustration. Many say groceries already eat up most of their budget, and now essentials like milk and yogurt are getting out of reach.

Some are asking the government to step in and do something to make staple foods affordable again. Shopkeepers and dairy vendors blame the higher prices on increased costs all along the chain—more expensive animal feed, pricier fuel for delivery trucks, and just about everything else involved in dairy production.

Industry folks insist they have no choice but to pass these costs on to buyers. Economists point out that when basics like milk get expensive, people feel the pinch right away and inflation feels even worse.

They say the government needs to keep a closer eye on the markets and step up with smart policies to protect families’ buying power. For now, people in Lahore are waiting to see if things improve. With living expenses still climbing and no relief in sight, this latest price hike only underscores how tough it’s getting to get by.
