The Iranian military has warned the US that if President Donald Trump takes any new military action against Iran in support of Israel, the conflict could widen, and its consequences would be beyond Washington’s control.
Iranian military spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said in a statement on the social media platform X that the US’s new adventures in the region and Israel’s encouragement could spread the war to wider geographical areas.
He warned that in such a case, the war would not end according to the US president’s wishes.
Mohammad Akraminia said that Tehran did not trust Washington due to the US president’s past diplomatic behaviour and reneging on promises.
The Iranian military spokesman added that Iran’s armed forces are constantly improving their war preparations and are closely monitoring US military movements in the region.
His statement came at a time when there are concerns about renewed tensions between the US and Iran in the Middle East. On the other hand, diplomatic contacts are also being sought between the two countries under Qatar’s mediation.
According to reports, a Qatari delegation has arrived in Tehran, while Pakistan is also playing a role in diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and resume talks.
Despite the increasing military activity and harsh statements in the region, diplomatic contacts indicate that efforts are being made to maintain the space for negotiations to prevent a possible conflict.
