Election Commission Azad Kashmir releases final list of candidates and election symbols

Muzaffarabad: Election activities for the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly general elections 2026 have intensified. The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has released the final list of candidates, according to which a total of 852 candidates are in the fray in 45 constituencies to seek public support.

According to the details released by the Election Commission, the highest political activity is being seen in 6 constituencies of the Kotli district, where 135 candidates will be competing against each other. Similarly, 126 candidates are continuing their election campaign in 5 constituencies of the capital, Muzaffarabad, which is expected to be a tough competition in these constituencies.

According to the announcement, a total of 126 candidates are also contesting the elections on 12 seats reserved for refugees from Jammu and Kashmir. Interesting contests between different political parties and independent candidates are expected on these seats.

The Election Commission said that the election symbols of 24 registered political parties participating in the elections have been duly allotted, while the candidates contesting as independent candidates will also be issued their election symbols soon so that the election campaign can be fully taken forward.

According to officials, the election campaign is likely to gain momentum after the release of the final list of candidates. Various political parties are trying to increase their support through contacts with voters, election rallies and public meetings.

It should be noted that the elections to the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly will be held on July 27, 2026, for which administrative and security preparations are also underway by the Election Commission to ensure transparent, fair and peaceful polling.
