The federal government announces public holiday on December 25, message of national and religious harmony

HOLIDAY

Islamabad: The federal government has announced a public holiday on December 25 across the country, providing a day of convenience to the public at the end of December. This holiday has two major significances in a single day, where on the one hand the birth anniversary of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is celebrated, while the Christian community celebrates its religious festival of Christmas.

According to official sources, an official notification regarding the holiday will be issued soon, after which all federal and provincial departments, educational institutions and banks will implement this decision. Most private offices are also expected to remain closed on December 25.

Due to this holiday, banking services, government office affairs and educational activities will remain suspended for a day. Citizens have been advised to complete their important transactions and paperwork in advance, especially those who have issues related to banks or government offices.

The birth anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is a milestone in Pakistan’s national history. He was a leader who declared the constitution, law and the rights of minorities as the foundation of the state. His life and struggle still provide guidance for the constitutional and democratic structure of Pakistan today.

On the other hand, Christmas is the biggest religious festival of the Christian community, which is celebrated to celebrate the birth of Prophet Jesus (peace be upon him). Special prayers, home decorations and social events are organized on the occasion of Christmas in Pakistan, in which interfaith harmony is prominent.

According to political and social experts, the joint holiday of December 25 highlights the positive identity of Pakistan. According to a public policy expert,
“This day symbolizes the state’s promise that the Quaid-e-Azam made regarding equal treatment of minorities and religious freedom.”

Experts say that if this day is celebrated as an intellectual and social message rather than just a holiday, it can further strengthen national unity.
