Tehran – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has accused the US of “contradictory messages” from Washington that are complicating the ongoing diplomatic talks with Iran.

According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, Abbas Araqchi said in his statement that Iran is not sabotaging the negotiation process in any way, but the unclear and contradictory stance in US policy is making the situation difficult.

According to Arab media Al Jazeera, the Iranian foreign minister said that Iran is not responsible for any tension that has arisen in the Strait of Hormuz, because Tehran neither started any war nor increased tensions in the region but is only taking measures in self-defence.

Abbas Araqchi clarified that the Strait of Hormuz is currently open to “friendly countries”, but coordination with Iranian authorities is necessary for its use. He said that restrictions on this waterway will remain in place only for “enemies” of Iran.

According to the Iranian foreign minister, the Strait of Hormuz is a very important route for global energy transport, and Iran is playing a responsible role in maintaining its security and stability. He accused some external powers of further complicating the situation through unnecessary military presence in the region.

According to analysts, the recent tensions between Iran and the United States are increasing at a time when global energy transport and the security of maritime routes are already under pressure.

According to the Iranian position, Tehran wants to be part of the negotiation process, but it will not accept any pressure or unilateral policy. On the other hand, Washington has been accusing Iran of increasing tensions in the region.

Political observers say that Iran’s statement regarding the Strait of Hormuz once again demonstrates its central position in global energy politics, as the world’s major oil supply passes through this route.

According to experts, if tensions increase in the region, it could have a direct impact on global markets, oil prices and maritime trade.

Iran has once again emphasised that it wants peace and stability in the region but will not compromise on its security and sovereignty.
