Lahore – After the arrest of alleged drug dealer Anmol, alias Pinky, Punjab Police has resumed action on old cases registered in Lahore, while preparations are also underway to take him into custody from Sindh Police.

According to police sources, drug smuggling cases have been registered against Anmol Pinky and his brothers in three different police stations of Lahore—Liaqatabad, Iqbal Town and Kot Lakhpat—in 2019, 2020 and 2022, in which the investigation process has now been reactivated.

In the 2022 case, the police had taken the stand that on January 6, an SUV was stopped during an operation that contained a large quantity of drugs. According to the FIR, a man fled the scene while the vehicle was being driven by a woman, later identified as Anmol Pinki.

According to the Deputy Inspector General of Investigation of Punjab Police, the arrest of the accused in these cases is yet to be made, and her custody will be taken from Sindh Police after obtaining permission from the courts.

He said that departmental action has also been initiated against the negligent investigating officers in this matter.

Sources say that allegations of failure to act by taking bribes have also come to light against some officers in these cases, which is being investigated.

According to police officials, Anmol Pinki was allegedly running an organised network that was involved in the supply of drugs between Lahore and Karachi. Through this network, cocaine and other drugs were being transported to different areas.

Officials say that the case is being monitored at the highest level, and the Punjab Chief Minister has also sought a report in this regard.

According to the investigative agencies, this case is not only important for exposing a drug network but also highlights the internal weaknesses of the police system.

The police have formed special teams for further action, which will soon go to Karachi to complete legal steps for the custody of the accused.
