Lahore: Restoration work is underway in many districts of Punjab after the recent monsoon rains. According to a PDMA spokesperson, the process of completing the survey in 27 districts of the province is going on rapidly so that relief can be provided to the affected areas as soon as possible.
The spokesperson said that during the last 24 hours, 47 mm of rain was recorded in Noorpurthal, 42 mm in Faisalabad, 38 mm in Lahore and 35 mm in Okara. The Meteorological Department has predicted that more rains are likely in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin and Gujarat and other districts in the next 24 hours.
The PDMA has warned that as a result of continuous rains, the water flow in the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab rivers may increase. Residents of low-lying areas have been urged to take precautionary measures and follow the instructions of the relevant agencies.
DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that the Pakistan Army, Urban Unit and District Administration are working together to ensure a transparent survey of flood victims. So far, details have been collected from 127,000 affected citizens and more than 88,000 farmers so that the process of helping them can be made transparent and fast.
