Islamabad: Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has said that Pakistan’s armed forces are fully aware of every attempt to destabilise the country, and the state will combat terrorism sponsored from across the border with its full force. He made it clear that proxy networks supported by enemy intelligence agencies will never be allowed to harm Pakistan’s peace, internal stability and economic development.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Asim Munir made this observation while addressing the graduating officers of the National Security and War Course at the National Defence University (NDU) in Islamabad. The course was attended by officers from all three armed forces and other national institutions.

In his address, he said that the nature of war is changing rapidly in the modern era, in view of which the institutions related to national security need a clear strategy, professionalism and effective institutional preparedness. He stressed that the military and civilian leadership should be equipped with foresight, confidence and practical capabilities to deal with future security challenges.

Field Marshal Asim Munir said that the armed forces of Pakistan are continuously improving their operational strategy and defence preparedness in accordance with the changing war requirements. According to him, wars are not won by mere political slogans or media campaigns, but faith, unity, discipline and professionalism are the foundation of success.

He urged the graduating officers to discharge their professional responsibilities with integrity, selfless service and unwavering commitment to the national interest. He also appreciated the role of the National Defence University and said that this institution is playing a significant role in preparing future military and civilian leadership to deal with complex security challenges.

This statement comes at a time when several incidents of terrorism have taken place in Balochistan in recent days. According to the ISPR, four civilians, 27 policemen and 11 security personnel have been martyred in terrorist attacks and counter-terror operations since July 5, while 54 terrorists have been killed during the operations.

According to defence experts, in the context of the security challenges facing Pakistan, the recent statement of the military leadership reflects the determination that the state is focusing on making its strategy against terrorism, proxy war and external interference more effective while giving equal importance to national security and economic stability.
