A statement issued by the Ministry of Planning stated that the federal government prioritised development projects in the infrastructure, education, water, power and communication sectors in the current fiscal year, as a result of which billions of rupees were released for the projects of various ministries and corporations.

According to experts, road and infrastructure projects not only improve the country’s trade system but also play an important role in creating new employment opportunities.

Similarly, significant investment was also made on development projects in the power sector. Rs 52.76 billion was spent on power projects under government corporations, which aim to stabilise the energy system and reduce problems in power generation and transmission.

The announcement said that Rs 44 billion was spent on projects of the Cabinet Division, while Rs 19.17 billion was released for various projects under the Federal Ministry of Education. Rs 24.15 billion was spent on projects related to the Higher Education Commission and higher education, which experts are calling a major breakthrough in the education sector.

A significant amount was also allocated for projects of the Ministry of Water Resources. According to the report, ₹66.9 billion was spent on water resources development projects. These projects include dams, reservoirs, canal systems and water supply schemes.

The Ministry of Planning further said that the revised PSDP budget for the current fiscal year has been set at Rs 837.16 billion.
