ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the prices of imported re-gasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) by up to 15.27 percent for October, raising the cost of gas supplies for both major distribution companies.
According to the notification issued by OGRA in Islamabad, the revised rates have been calculated following an increase of up to $2.17 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) compared with September.
For the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) system, the RLNG price at the distribution stage has increased by approximately $2.13 per MMBtu, taking the new rate to $17.32 per MMBtu from $15.19 in September.
The increase is higher for the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) system. Its RLNG distribution price has risen by $2.17 per MMBtu to $16.39 per MMBtu, compared with $14.22 in the previous month.
The revised prices will take effect retrospectively from October 1, 2026, according to the notification. The rates are based on two imported LNG cargoes arranged by Pakistan State Oil (PSO), both supplied under long-term agreements with Qatar. Dawn+1
The latest increase follows a substantial reduction in RLNG prices during September, when rates for the SNGPL and SSGC systems fell by more than 20 per cent. The October adjustment therefore reverses part of the previous month’s decline.
The higher RLNG rates could also affect fuel costs for electricity generation and industrial consumers, depending on the volume of imported gas used and the applicable pricing arrangements. The increase comes at a time when energy costs remain an important concern for businesses and households.
