Islamabad: The government has fixed new prices of petroleum products for September 18. Petrol prices have been reduced slightly, while the price of high-speed diesel has been increased.
According to the new rates, petrol has become cheaper by 43 paise per litre, after which its price has been fixed at Rs 390.79 per litre. On the other hand, high-speed diesel will be available at Rs 424.92 per litre after becoming more expensive by Rs 3.47.
According to the details released by the Petroleum Division, the new prices will be effective for September 18. This change in prices has been made under the current daily pricing mechanism of OGRA.
The new rates have seen a slight reduction in petrol prices, but consumers using diesel will have to pay extra.
According to officials, local prices of petroleum products are linked to changes in global market prices. Fluctuations in global oil prices are also affecting the daily price determination in Pakistan.
The government in Pakistan had introduced a daily pricing system this year, under which the prices of petroleum products are being changed periodically, considering the global market situation and related factors.
Under this new mechanism, petrol and diesel prices for consumers may change more quickly with changes in the global market.
The rates issued for September 18 have significantly increased the price of diesel compared to petrol, which is likely to affect the costs of transport and diesel-using sectors.
