Karachi – Investor confidence was restored on the last trading day of the week at the Pakistan Stock Exchange and the benchmark KSE 100 Index closed at 177,166 points with an increase of 574 points.
The market showed a bullish trend in the beginning of the business. The index opened almost 700 points higher, which showed that investors were immediately viewing the developments in the political situation as a positive signal for the market.
However, the initial bullishness did not last throughout the day. The market was cautious after reports emerged about the PTI founder being shifted to the hospital for medical examination. By the end of the first session, the index’s increase was limited to only 29 points.
Later, the buying trend prevailed again in the second part of the business. As a result of increased investor interest, the index regained momentum and ended the day with a significant increase.
The KSE 100 index ended the trading day at 177,166 points after gaining 574 points or about 0.33 percent.
This development shows that the market absorbed the initial political news, later information and overall investment trend in different stages during the day.
A notable aspect of Friday’s activity was that the market ended positively despite the volatility during the session. This situation reflects that a section of investors is also taking into account the fundamental economic and business factors present in the market.
According to PSX data, around 680 million shares were traded during the day, while the total trading value remained over Rs. 35 billion.
The high trading volume indicates that investor activity in the market remained intact. However, it is not appropriate to consider the increase in trading volume alone as a definitive indicator of the market’s permanent direction, as political news can cause rapid changes in buying and selling in the short term.
The effects of the boom in trading were also seen on the overall investment value of the market. At the end of the day, the market capitalisation increased by about 95 billion rupees, after which it increased to 19,882 billion rupees.
The increase in market capitalization reflects the improvement in the market value of listed companies as a whole. However, the performance of shares of different sectors plays a different role in this.
The recent business trend shows that political developments are still among the factors affecting the short-term trend of the Pakistan Stock Market. The index’s rise from an initial surge of about 700 points to an increase of only 29 points during the day and then closing at a plus of 574 points highlights the sensitive behaviour of the market.
However, in the coming trading days, investors’ attention will not be limited to political news alone. Domestic economic data, interest rates, rupee value, corporate results, global market trends and foreign investment can also play an important role in determining the direction of the market.
Overall, Friday’s trading session ended on a positive note. A gain of 574 points kept the market above the 177,000 level, while high trading volume also indicated investor activity. Now the key question for the market will be whether this positive trend continues next week or political and economic factors create volatility again.
