Iran reiterates demand from US to implement memorandum of understanding, refuses talks amid threats

Tehran: Iran has reiterated its stance in ongoing diplomatic relations with the US, making it clear that progress on any final agreement is not possible in an environment of threats or pressure. Iranian officials say that mutual trust and respect for agreed principles can be the basis for moving the negotiations forward.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said in his statement that if the pressure and threats continue, formal negotiations for a final agreement will not be initiated. He said that the parties should respect the promises made by them and the signed documents.

According to Abbas Araqchi, the relevant clause of the memorandum of understanding also indicates that an atmosphere of trust is necessary for the negotiations to be successful. He said that the Iranian people and armed forces will not change their policy due to any kind of pressure or threat.

The Iranian foreign minister, referring to recent public gatherings, said that a large number of citizens expressed solidarity with Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, which he called a symbol of national unity and internal stability.

On the other hand, the speaker of the Iranian parliament and chief negotiator Baqir Qalibaf said that the full implementation of the memorandum of understanding reached in Islamabad is certainly a complex step, but it cannot be considered impossible.

During a meeting with the head of the Hamas Leadership Council, Mohammad Darwish, in Tehran, Baqir Qalibaf said that despite reconciliation efforts, differences between Iran and the United States on several fundamental issues persist, which will require further diplomatic contacts and serious negotiations to resolve.

The recent statements by Iranian officials have come at a time when diplomatic activities in the region and contacts between various parties are being closely monitored at the international level. However, there was no immediate official response from the United States to these latest statements.
