Tehran: Iran has said that no final decision has been made on the new diplomatic proposal made by the US, while talks and contacts between the two countries are still ongoing.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai told state media that Tehran is reviewing the US proposal and it is premature to reach any conclusion in this regard. The development comes at a time when Iranian state media reported this month that a new proposal for talks had been delivered to the US through Pakistani mediators.
The White House confirmed on Friday that Iran’s new proposal had been received, but US officials did not share its details publicly. US President Donald Trump also mentioned direct contacts with Iran and said that he was not satisfied with Tehran’s recent stance.
According to Trump, the US has presented its final proposals and now it is up to Iran to decide. He said that there are some demands from Tehran that Washington cannot accept.
On the other hand, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said that if the US abandons its threatening behavior and unfair conditions, Iran is ready to follow the diplomatic path.
Meanwhile, US officials and sources close to the White House have claimed that a preliminary memorandum of understanding has been prepared for the end of the war and future nuclear talks, which is being seen as a possible negotiating framework.
