Iran calls on Gulf countries to review US military presence

TehranIranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai has urged Gulf countries to end their dependence on powers outside the region for their security.

Speaking on Press TV’s “Unscripted” program, he said that the US military presence in the Middle East is “causing instability” and is also posing a threat to countries where US bases are located.

Esmail Baghai said that Iran has always taken the position that sustainable and real security in the region is possible only through mutual cooperation between regional countries, and not through external interference.

He added that US military bases have repeatedly exposed host countries to unnecessary risks.

According to the Iranian spokesman, the solution to the region’s problems lies in regional cooperation and a joint strategy.
