Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz made a surprise visit to Lahore’s Mayo Hospital, where she interacted directly with patients and their families. Patients complained of problems during treatment, including non-availability of basic facilities like syringes and varnish.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister came down heavily on the hospital administration and ordered the immediate removal of the MS from the post. “People come to the hospital with hope and expectation of treatment, but the hospital administration does not know what is happening in which ward. What is happening to the people? If the responsible ones are with their own people, then it should be known.
The Chief Minister listened to the grievances of the patients and relatives standing in the waiting room and on the way and chaired an emergency meeting at the Mayo Hospital itself. He ordered steps for immediate payment of medicine dues and directed to ensure 100% supply of medicines in the hospital.
Maryam Nawaz stressed that the hospital administration should ensure better treatment of patients and provision of basic facilities. He said that the government is committed to bringing reforms in the public health sector, and such shortcomings will not be tolerated.
After this visit, immediate improvements are expected in Mayo Hospital, which will provide better treatment facilities to the patients.
