Karachi – Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves recorded a modest but positive increase during the last business week of July, indicating that the external financial position is continuing to stabilize. According to the latest official data, there was an improvement in the reserves held by both the central bank and commercial banks.

According to the weekly report of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the country’s total foreign exchange reserves reached US$ 22.47 billion as of July 31, 2026. An increase of about $ 32.5 million was recorded in the total reserves compared to the previous week, which, although limited, indicates continued stability in the reserves.

According to the data, the government reserves held by the State Bank increased from $13.1 million to $17.04 billion. On the other hand, foreign exchange held by commercial banks also increased from $19.4 million to $5.43 billion.

According to economists, the continued improvement in foreign exchange reserves is considered a positive sign for external payments capacity, import requirements and financial stability. Although the increase was limited this week, the stability of reserves strengthens confidence in meeting international financial obligations.

Analysts say that exports, remittances, foreign investment and the global financial situation will affect the direction of foreign exchange reserves in the coming weeks. That is why investors and economic circles are also keeping a close eye on the upcoming weekly reports of the State Bank.

This development in foreign exchange reserves is being considered a positive sign in the context of the country’s economy, however, according to experts, increasing exports, balancing imports and further promoting sustainable foreign investment will be important for long-term stability. According to an analysis by Pakistan Observer, a gradual increase in reserves can help improve economic confidence, however, the overall economic picture will also depend on the performance of other key indicators.
