ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the government is committed to restoring the lost identity of Pakistan’s national game, hockey, and vigorous steps are being taken for this purpose. Talking to the media in Islamabad, he said that it is very important to keep politics and sports separate from each other for the development of sports. So that the players can move forward only on the basis of their performance and ability.
He said that the Talent Hunt Programme is playing an effective role in providing opportunities to young players at the national level. The PML-N government has always been active in promoting sports, and the current government wants to lead the youth on positive paths by promoting healthy activities.
Ataullah Tarar also praised the capabilities of the national cricket team, saying that wins and losses are part of the game, but there is immense talent in Pakistani players. He termed the news regarding the resignation of PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi as baseless and informed that Mohsin Naqvi has also recently been elected as the President of the Asian Cricket Council, which is an honor for Pakistan.
The federal minister also lamented that the abolition of departmental sports in the past had left the players jobless, but Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has restored departmental sports after understanding this important issue. To provide employment opportunities to the players. He said that recently a footballer met Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, who was forced to do another job due to financial difficulties, to which the Prime Minister took immediate notice.
Attaullah Tarar said that the government wants to free sports from politics and bring forward the players on the basis of merit and hard work so that Pakistan can once again shine its name in the field of sports.
