Privatization of loss-making institutions is inevitable, transparency is the first condition: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that privatization of loss-making national institutions is necessary for the country’s economic development. He directed that the privatization process should be completed in a transparent, comprehensive, and coordinated manner.

An important meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister regarding the privatization of state-owned institutions, in which a briefing was given on the progress of other institutions including the privatization list of 2024, the national airline, and discos.

PM Shehbaz Sharif made it clear that:

“Illegal encroachments will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and complete caution should be exercised in the disposal of valuable national land.”

He said that all privatization targets should be set according to the current economic conditions of the market and the Privatization Commission should be given complete autonomy so that there is no delay in the process.

The Prime Minister announced that he would directly monitor the performance of the Privatization Commission so that the set targets can be achieved on time.
