In a recent meeting focused on electricity projects, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued a directive to shift the current electricity generation capacity towards solar energy. Highlighting the global trend of generating electricity through environmentally friendly and cost-effective solar power, the Prime Minister emphasized Pakistan’s fortunate position, blessed with abundant solar energy potential.

Sharif stated, “We are lucky to possess vast solar energy resources in our country,” and insisted that future projects prioritize low-cost electricity generation.

Additionally, the Prime Minister ordered the immediate closure of outdated and low-efficiency power plants, underlining the necessity for modernization in the energy sector. He called for the prioritization of local resources in electricity generation projects and urged for an expedited implementation of ongoing reforms within the electricity transmission system.

Moreover, Shehbaz Sharif directed that all necessary actions for reforming the electricity sector be completed within a specified timeframe. His commitment reflects a determined effort to enhance the sustainability and efficiency of Pakistan’s energy sector, aligning with the global shift towards renewable energy.
