ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif have strongly condemned the incident of terrorists firing on an anti-polio team in Nushki. One policeman was martyred and another was injured in the attack. The President expressed his condolences to the families of the martyred officer and said that the war against polio is not over yet, and we will not rest on our laurels until polio is completely eradicated from the country.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while describing the incident as unbearable, said that the attack on the polio team that ensures a safe future for children is actually an attack on the future of the nation. He said that strict action will be taken against the miscreants who obstruct the polio campaign.

After the attack, the District Health Officer has temporarily stopped the polio campaign in Nushki. However, the determination and expression of solidarity of the federal leadership is a clear message that despite terrorism, efforts to combat polio will continue.
