Pakistan has always paid the price for peace, security and sovereignty: PM Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad: Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Pakistan has always made sacrifices for peace and stability.  He said, “Our armed forces thwarted the enemy’s intentions with their best professional skills and sent a message to the world that Pakistan is a peaceful but strong state.”

The Prime Minister said that peace and security are the basis of sustainable development, no country can progress unless there is stability and justice in its society. He said that ongoing conflicts around the world have highlighted the importance of peace and Pakistan has always shown unwavering commitment to its defense and sovereignty.

Talking about Afghanistan, Shahbaz Sharif said, “A peaceful Afghanistan is the guarantor of regional connectivity and development.” He said that Pakistan has given a solid and decisive response to the recent attacks from Afghan soil.

Highlighting his government’s economic policies, Shahbaz Sharif said, “We have initiated reforms for sustainable development and institutional strengthening. Empowering youth and women is our priority.”

Parliamentary delegations from Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Palestine, Morocco, Kenya, Rwanda, Nepal, Barbados and Liberia are participating in the two-day conference held in Islamabad.


According to political experts, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif’s address highlights the continuity of Pakistan’s foreign policy and commitment to regional peace. According to them, this conference is a positive development towards strengthening Pakistan’s diplomatic role.
